DATE COURSES
Open Date Courses at
Hispalengua run throughout the year. They are designed
for students wishing to acquire new language skills
or improving existing ones, but needing maximum flexibility
regarding starting dates. Normally, students with special
needs, such as career needs or interview requirements,
opt for open date courses. The principal characteristics
of Open Date Courses are the following:
Minimum age of 17, though more mature 16 year olds are
normally admitted.
Levels: from beginner to advanced.
Course lengths: minimum 2 weeks
Start on most Mondays
Class size: General Course:
max 8; Intensive course: max 6.
General Courses: 20 hours lessons and 5 hours general
electives.
IntensiveCourses: 20 hours lessons and 5 or 10 hours
intensive electives. Intensive exam course preparation
offered as one of the electives.

Open Date Courses may
be taken in the form of a General Course or an Intensive
Course. Intensive courses include an additional one
or two hours of intensive elective tuition.
In both General Courses
and Intensive Courses, a total of 25 one-hour classes
are imparted weekly, or 5 hours of classes daily Monday
thru Friday. Morning sessions are divided into 4 one-hour
class sessions, and an additional one-hour general elective
class is offered in the afternoon. Electives are chosen
for four weeks. Maximum 8 students per class.
Students taking an Intensive
course choose to take, additionally, one or two one-hour
classes of intensive tuition daily in the afternoon,
for a total of 6 or 7 hours daily depending on the intensive
course chosen. Intensive Course options include:
a) Grammar
b) Creative writing and grammar
c) Reading and pronunciation
d) Conversation (speaking and listening; individual
presentations)
e) Literature and translation
f) Certificate Exam Preparation
Teachers will advise the student regarding the suitability
of an elective based on the student’s level and
individual needs. Maximum 6 students per class.
Important: Intensive Course Electives are one-hour or
two-hour daily elective classes of intense preparation
in the various subject areas, and should not be confused
with general electives found in the basic 20
+ 5 general course.

Private individual tuition (1-to-1)
is charged at 40€/hour. The above prices do not
include accomodation. Host-family accomodation is charged
at 150€/week in addition to the above course fees.
Limited residential, bed-and-breakfast and hotel accomodation
is also available.
